WEBINAR: The New Networking: DevOps, Cross-project Integration, and XCI
November 29, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PST
The industry landscape for software developers today is moving inextricably towards DevOps, agile development, and cloud-native applications. This is equally true of the networking industry as operators, vendors, and systems integrations seek new ways to accelerate network transformation through cloud, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). In fact a recent survey of Communications Service Providers (CSPs) indicates that 80% of those surveyed feel that the DevOps software development model (DevOps) is essential or important to NFV success. Open Source projects like OPNFV, OpenDaylight, and OpenStack are embracing the DevOps development model by collaborating on a common infrastructure that is poised to significantly accelerate open source NFV.
OPNFV, a testing and integration project that workings with other upstream communities to develop NFV, leverages a Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline that traditionally has integrated the latest major release of upstream projects such as OpenStack, OpenDaylight, FD.io every six months or so. But a new initiative called cross-community continuous integration, or XCI for short, regularly integrates the latest from each supported branch of select upstream projects, slashing the time to implement new features and address bugs from months to days.
In this webinar, you’ll learn from open source networking and developer experts from the OPNFV, OpenDaylight, and OpenStack communities about:
- Their approach to DevOps and networking in this new era
- The XCI initiative and how it works to accelerate testing and development
- The many ways to participate in open source networking
